Your gift to CSFA will be directed in its entirety to support the programs that benefit visual artists and writers. They are not used to offset annual administrative expenses.
Dear Friends,
I never doubted that the Saltonstall Foundation would survive the bumps and rattles of the rough road to longevity. Fourteen years is no lifetime but the Saltonstall Foundation's presence is much more than an idea. It has become a permanent reality in the art world in which it thrives.
Connie's Uncle, Bill Saltonstall, loved his niece and in the years since her death, in 1994, he has always been in the background, keeping track of our progress and cheering us on. In his annual Christmas card he would write encouraging words, "Keep it up, Looks good!", always a cheerful message. One memorable Christmas, about 6 years ago he wrote, "Kathy, the Foundation looks like it's the real deal."
And that's what it is, "the real deal." And this is why:
We have supported over 300 artists in New York State. We have awrard 142 grants totaling $530,000 and over 200 Summer Fellowships. Visual artists and writers may spend a month at the colony in Ithaca, New York. In addition, with New York State Council on the Arts' help, we have, sponsored numerous workshops, seminars and salons. How many artists' lives have we touched? Who knows.
We need your help to continue to grow and change. Please help us support art at the source. The Saltonstall Foundation is "the real deal."
Sincerely,
Kathy Durland Dewart
