Date: June 28, 2008
Time: 1:00PM - 3:00PM

Date: July 26, 2008

This workshop will introduce participants to the world of fine art prints. Pamela Drix and Christa Wolf, co-founders of The Ink Shop Printmaking Center and Olive Branch Press, will give an overview of printmaking techniques with original prints at The Ink Shop facility. They will then demonstrate different printmaking methods. Christa Wolf will introduce participants to intaglio printing, which dates back to the 15th century. Pamela will explain and demonstrate the unique process of Gum Printing, which is in essence a lithographic process using photographic images, that eventually developed into offset printing. Both demonstrations will include hands-on exercises.

Title: Writing from the Heart
Presenter: Mary Gilliland
Location: Borg-Warner Room, Tompkins County Public Library, 101. E. Green Street Ithaca, NY
Date: August 1, 2008
Time: 10:30AM - 12:30PM; 2:00PM - 4:00PM

Participants will select moments from personal history to examine, via writing exercises, shifting points of view, time, form, and metaphor. Participants are welcome to attend one or both sessions.

Title: It's All About You: Making Sense by Making an Altar
Presenter: Caron Minton Morris
Location: Saltonstall Foundation 435 Ellis Hollow Creek Road Ithaca, NY
Date: September 20, 2008
Time: 10:00AM - 5:00PM

As ancient cave-painters demonstrated, humans have the capacity and the desire to mark and reflect on their experience. Carol Minton Morris, a certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher and artist, will lead participants through a presentation of ancient traditions of altar-building, while guiding one to experience the true nature of the heart, mind, and emotions through simple Yoga and group discussions. Participants will be invited to transform their insights into a personal altar to take home as a tangible and joyous touchstone to be revisited as one makes decisions in everyday life. During the workshop, participants will be guided to experience their feelings and to translate those emotions into an arrangement of objects that will allow for the opportunity to understand and honor their feelings.
