Available Studio Space!

Time and space to do your work.

Saltonstall Studio Space
Ithaca area painters, writers, photographers and artists in other disciplines, as well as collaborative art groups, may request non-residential, day or evening use of the Colony’s studio facilities in the spring (approximately March 15 – May 15) or in the fall (approximately September 15 – November 15) at a rate of $5 per day/evening.

Former Saltonstall Fellows may request a return visit to the Colony for a week-long visit during those same time periods at a rate of $10 per day.

Requests are subject to availability and are scheduled at the discretion of the Executive Director. Individuals or groups using the Colony facilities are responsible for providing their own food and transportation and for proper cleaning of the facility before departure.

The Saltonstall Arts Colony is one of the finest artist communities for literary and visual artists in the country. There are large studios with tables, easels, sinks, writing desks, a black-and-white darkroom, and lots of natural light. These quiet, comfortable spaces have inspired more than 150 artists and writers to begin new work, finish major projects, or explore and develop new directions for their creative process.

To apply: Please send a one-page letter describing your need for studio space, including what you plan on doing, how many days you need to do this work, the number of hours you will be in the studio each day, and the best dates for your visit.. Attach a one-page resume. On a separate sheet, please provide the names and telephone numbers of three references.
