Marilyn Rivchin is a filmmaker, photographer, and videomaker who taught filmmaking and digital media at Cornell University from 1979 to 2012. She holds a B.A from Barnard College and a M.F.A from Cornell University. She also completed an intensive 16 mm filmmaking program at UCLA.
Before Rivchin taught at Cornell she was the Assistant Director of the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art and then lived in Haiti working as a photographer and filmmaker for two years. From 2002-2006 she was Saltonstall’s board president. Often times, Rivchin collaborates with choreographers, dancers and others to create projected installations for live performance. Some of her pieces include: “Chute”, “Planes”, “The Elegance of Motion”, “Slippage”, and many more.
Rivchin currently resides in Ithaca, NY.
