Richard Shpuntoff (1998)

 

richard-shpuntoffRichard Shpuntoff is a photographer and filmmaker known for his film “Julio of Jackson Heights” The film documents the story of the 1990 gay bashing murder of Julio Rivera and how it changed Jackson Heights. This project started when Shpuntoff started photographing the Queens’ First Annual Gay and Lesbian Pride parade. He had continued to it for 19 years before making the film.
