“In this new body of work I am exploring the possibilities of bridging the gap between abstraction and representation, through the transformative process of collage. For me these collages convey the passage of time, be it through the people (no longer living) depicted in a photograph, or an old postcard that has passed through countless hands over many decades.”
Sophie Arnold was born in London, U.K. Her current work is a collaging process where she uses a fragmented object and takes it apart like a jigsaw puzzle. She then pieces it back together with different layers of papers, glue, and textures. She received her B.A. from Wimbledon School of Art in London and her M.A. from Camberwell College of Art in London as well. Arnold now lives in New York, New York.
