The Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts currently has one fully-online internship opportunity for the Fall, 2020 semester. This is an unpaid position, but days and hours per week are entirely flexible. Although we can’t work with you in person right now, we’d still love to introduce you to Saltonstall.

Marketing & Communications Internship

Sharing an organization’s mission, programs, and activities with the world outside the office is a daily adventure in brand-building, storytelling, and connecting with various Saltonstall communities and constituents.

This internship can be done completely online. It will provide a general overview of not-for-profit marketing and communications (and maybe even a little fundraising!) with a focus on generating visual and written content for Saltonstall’s web site, e-newsletters, and social media channels.

This is an ideal internship for someone with a deep interest in the lives of artists and writers since we regularly promote and share the work of our residency alumni.

 

Desired qualities
Curiosity, open-mindedness, willingness to ask lots of questions, ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Desired skills
Strong writing skills; facility with various social media platforms; graphic design skills a plus but not a requirement

Arts Administration Internship (POSTPONED)

Are you interested in learning more about how small not-for-profit arts organizations survive and thrive? Ithaca is home to a small arts colony dedicated to supporting New York State artists and writers by providing two- and four-week summer residencies, subsidized retreat space in the off-season, and various public events.

Our arts administration internship is designed to give you hands-on experience in nearly every aspect of running a small arts organization, including but not limited to: marketing, finance/fundraising, organizational management, program development, and general office administration.

Saltonstall has a full-time staff of one and a part-time staff of one. You would be working directly with the organization’s executive director, Lesley Williamson.

Curiosity, open-mindedness, willingness to ask lots of questions, ability to work alone in a quiet environment

Desired skills
Ability to write clearly; facility with basic website editing programs and various social media platforms; graphic design skills and knowledge of Excel a plus but not a requirement
