The upstairs visual arts studio and one-bedroom suite comprises the entire second floor of the studio building and is accessed by stairs inside the building’s vestibule.
The 13’ x 25’ vinyl-tiled art studio includes a variety of tables, a painting easel, a utility sink, and a variety of chairs and stools. There are bulletin boards on two short walls and windows on the east, west, and north side of the room. There is abundant natural light and some direct sunlight through the east and west-facing windows.
Guests staying in the studio building now have access to the full, accessible kitchen in our new addition. This does require you to leave the building, but only briefly! The entrance to the addition is just 20 feet away.
(Note about the kitchen: this photo was taken before we fully moved in. It includes a refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, oven, four-burner cook-top, coffee maker, electric tea kettle, toaster, blender, glassware, dishware, pots, pans, and everything you need to prepare meals.)
The living space is comprised of a bedroom, a bathroom with tub/shower combo, and a small living room with a couch, coffee table, café table, and mini fridge.
There is also a private balcony for use when the weather’s nice.
Quirks of the space:
The second floor of the studio building runs warm almost all year, but this can be very nice in the middle of winter. The apartment faces south and experiences passive solar gain when the sun is out. Additionally, the hot water heater and boiler are located in a closet between the studio and apartment and generates quite a bit of residual heat.
While we’ve added a dedicated internet line in the studio building, please do not expect strong, highspeed internet. The router is downstairs. Normal internet browsing, email, social media, etc. is not a problem, but you should not expect to be able to stream much of anything.
There is a landline in the studio building, but the line is shared, meaning that if the phone rings, it rings on both floors.
