We have such wonderful news to share. The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) is recommending a $25,000 grant to Saltonstall for FY2022 in their “Grants for Arts Projects – Artist Communities” category. Forty-one artist residencies across the country are being recommended for funding this year, and we are honored to be a part of this group for the first time.

The impact we have on the lives of artists and writers is often personal and may not be revealed for years. But we don’t believe that impact is small. It’s in the poems spread out on the floor being arranged into a chapbook, the experiments in the darkroom, the new direction for a novel-in-progress, the first marks on a blank canvas.

Receiving an NEA grant brings all of these accomplishments into focus and acknowledges the role that Saltonstall plays in providing artists and writers with the time and space they need for their creative practice.

It’s in these quiet moments of celebration that we feel especially connected to you — our community. We are so grateful for all of you — for the residency alums who always cheer us on, for our generous donors (those numbers matter on grant applications!), and for our friends in Ithaca who attend our local events. And, as always, thank you to all the artists and writers who come here to work, to think, to recharge at all times of year.
