The annual Saltonstall x Hupstate residency program for individual circus artists which happens every spring has proven to be incredibly impactful in supporting circus artists making meaningful, contemporary circus in an environment that often does not pay the art form the respect it deserves.
The juried residency is a collaboration between:
- Saltonstall as a nurturing home base for the artists
- Hupstate as an organization that supports the development of the circus arts in the USA
- Circus Culture, which aims to make circus opportunities available to all in their state of the art Ithaca studio.
As a result of our collaboration, there has been a flourishing of new work ready for audiences that is rare to see in the USA.
Multiple residency alums will be featured in the festival, including Katherine Marino, Troy Lingelbach, Queen and Joni, and Ella Shea
