Katie Mathews is a filmmaker working across documentary and fiction. Her collaborative approach is focused on creating spaces for truth and transformation. Recent projects include feature documentary Roleplay (SXSW 2024), narrative short Dark Moon (Vimeo Staff Pick 2022) and non-fiction short Signal and Noise (Special Jury Prize, New Orleans Film Festival 2021). Previously she produced the feature documentary Mossville (2019), which won human rights awards, aired nationally on PBS, and was presented to the United Nations. She is the 2022 recipient of the Princess Grace Award for Film and was recently named one of DOC NYC’s 40 under 40. She lives in New York City where she teaches film at Hunter College and her work can be found on Teen Vogue, WIRED, Bon Appetit, PBS, Hulu, and Disney+.
