“We are incredibly proud to be presenting this exhibition, and I can’t wait for the community to join us,” said Lesley Williamson, Saltonstall’s executive director. “The curiosity, ingenuity, and playfulness present in this show is remarkable and a reflection of Judy herself. Works include monotypes, etchings, collographs, mezzotints, gum transfers, and a variety of mixed media pieces. It’s been a privilege to be able to work with her and offer her the encouragement and support that she’s shown to other artists her whole life.”

Judy Barringer is a printmaker, collage artist, illustrator, photographer, painter, and chef. She was born and raised outside Philadelphia and moved to Trumansburg in 1970. She was one of the founding members of Ithaca’s Moosewood Restaurant in 1973. Judy has a deep association with the Saltonstall Foundation. She knew Saltonstall’s founder, artist Connie Saltonstall, as both were active artists in Tompkins County. Shortly after the Foundation was established in 1995, Judy created its iconic logo – a linoleum print that beautifully captures the house that Connie built and the surrounding rural landscape. Between 2003 and 2007, Judy served as Residency Chef and for the next four years as Residency Director.

This exhibition was curated by Kenneth C. Burkhart, a lifelong artist and photographer who curated over a hundred exhibitions during and after his tenure at the Chicago Cultural Center. Ken served on the Saltonstall Foundation’s board of directors from 2018 – 2024, acting as President for five of those years.
