Alex O’Neal (2004)

Alex O’Neal is a painter whose work focuses on depicting circumstances that are associated to Americans. He has created a fictional world, Delta City, “where isolation gives greater opportunity for local superstars and homegrown fashion.” He graduated from Rhode Island School of Design and School of the Art Institute of Chicago.


O’Neal’s drawings and paintings have been shown in the US and throughout Europe. Included are T Rotunda Gallery, Brooklyn, NY; P.S.122, New York; Woodruff Arts Center, Atlanta; Tennessee Arts Commission, Nashville; Festival International d’Art Singulier, Aubagne, France;  Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans; Chicago Cultural Center; Ecomuseu, Valls d’Aneu, Spain.


O’Neal been awarded fellowships from New York Foundation for the Arts , John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, Tennessee Arts Commission and Walter and Anne Knestrick Fund of Nashville, Djerassi Resident Artists Program, CA, and National Endowment for the Arts.


He lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
