Laura Kaufman (2015)

LauraKaufman.2015Laura Kaufman is a visual artist. Her work hovers between drawing and sculpture and uses language and geometric abstraction to engage existing systems of shapes and words.


She has exhibited nationally, including the Matteawan Gallery (Beacon, NY), Biers Gallery at Columbus College of Art and Design (Columbus, OH), Field Projects Gallery (NYC), Wassaic Project (Wassaic, NY), and the Bronx Museum of Art (Bronx, NY). In 2012 She received an outdoor sculpture commission on Randall’s Island, NY as part of theFirst AIM Biennial and with the support of the Rockefeller Foundation. Her work has appeared in publications including The New York Times, The Outdoor New Yorker, and the New York Daily News.


She received an MFA in sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI and a BA in Studio Art from Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, NY. Kaufman teaches at Marist College and lives with her husband and son in a river town in the Hudson Valley.
