Luis Borrero (2000)

Borrero copyLuis Borrero graduated from Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and several years later studied historical materials and techniques under the guidance of Peter Trubig in NYC. Borrero’s work combines traditional styles and techniques with contemporary life to convey a narrative that is rich with symbolic metaphors.

 

His work has been in numerous exhibits and is collected in the US and Puerto Rico. In late 2007 Borrero was selected to exhibit at the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Puerto Rico as part of the Reyes-Veray collection.

 

He has also been dedicated to teaching artists at his studio Atelier San Juan, which is located in the heart of San Juan Puerto Rico. Him and his wife, Amber Lia-Kloppel, established the studio to teach students classical methods of drawing and painting. They recently established a Portfolio Development curriculum that is specifically designed for high school students seeking college admission and scholarships. Graduates have been accepted into Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Cooper Union, Savannah College of Art and Design, and Ringling School of Art and Design with scholarship packages.

 

He currently lives and works in Ithaca, NY.
