Stephanie McMahon (2007)

stephanie_mcmahon copy“Fleeting moments and peripheral details inform the shapes, tone and color palette of my paintings as I seek to find a fluctuating space between the act of painting and a conscious recollection of my daily observations.”

 

Stephanie McMahon holds a B.F.A degree from Alfred University and an M.F.A from the University of Texas at Austin. Her pieces are abstract, bright impressions of experiences and environments she encounters in her life. She is currently an Associate Professor of Painting and Drawing at Alfred University.

 

McMahon has exhibited her paintings throughout the United States and abroad. Recent exhibitions include Scope New York International Art Show, an ArtBridge public installation at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Contemporary Couples at The Chautauqua Institution, Kent State University and Houghton College.

 

She was recently a visiting artist in China at several universities including Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in Shenyang and Northeast Normal University in Changchun. McMahon has also been an artist in residence at Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris and her work was included in the symposium New Directions in Drawing at Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver.
