Help Support our Teachers’ Residency!
For Giving Tuesday, November 29th, the Saltonstall Foundation for the Arts is raising money to support our Teachers’ Residency for Public School Teachers in Tompkins County. Supported in part by a generous contribution from the Ithaca City School District’s Fine Arts Booster Group, the Teachers’ Residency provides local teachers a free five-day retreat during school breaks to pursue and develop their artistic interests.
This year, we’ve set a bold fundraising goal of $7,500 to fully fund the Teachers’ Residency.
All tax-deductible donations made on Giving Tuesday will go to support this program. Launched in 2014 as a residency opportunity for five ICSD teachers, the Teachers’ Residency now offers residencies to twelve teachers in Tompkins County, in artistic disciplines that include creative writing, film and video, photography, painting, sculpture, and visual art. Teachers are selected by lottery, and receive accommodations and meals at our 200-acre arts colony during February and Spring Break. We offer a fully-accessible space including a private studio and kitchen, making this residency truly available to all teachers in Tompkins County.
Donations made on Giving Tuesday will cover the costs of feeding and housing two groups of six educators for these five-day retreats.
